Dr. Peg Dawson, co-author of Smart but Scattered and Smart but Scattered Teens, joined Concordia Lutheran School to present on the topic, “How to Improve Executive Skills without the Frustration”. Drawing on over 40 years of clinical experience and research, Dr. Dawson walked through the big picture, explaining why executive skills matter before presenting the main skills needed to develop executive function in kids. Dr. Dawson breaks down the main skills and gives specific examples of next steps for implementation with your children. Despite challenges, even in children with diagnoses such as ADHD, Dr. Peg Dawson walks through how executive skills can be taught and modeled to raise children that are successful in setting and achieving goals for the rest of their life.  Concordia Lutheran School is a small, diverse preschool-8th grade in North Seattle instilling confidence, community, and academic mastery in children since 1906. At Concordia, our habits of success guide how children interact with themselves and others. Our habits of success are being aware, relational, responsible, and self-managing. These habits of success are tied to many of the executive skills mentioned in Dr. Dawson’s talk. Curious about how our programs focus on building skills for success?
