MEYER MINUTES

November 18, 2008

On Friday, I was standing in the driveway at Concordia watching families leave for the weekend and a student ran up to me with a rhetorical question; "Why are all these new kids coming to our school?" And then his answer "Oh I know, because it is a fun place, we learn a lot and they want to know about Jesus!" He headed off for the weekend and I just said "Thank you!" After all the interruptions in my walk with Jesus; being robbed, completing a new progress report with our team, playground construction and trying to keep science interesting for the 11-13 year olds, this student connected me with Him with a simple matter of fact comment. I reflected on this all weekend and realized that Jesus was reaching down, asking for my hand and guiding our walk. I am sure that I am not the only one who gets overwhelmed by the schedules and details of life, but I do know that I am the lucky one who gets to listen to statements from a kids perspective that remind me of why I do what I do? Many things are happening here at Concordia and in our lives this time of year, but do me a favor, ask your child their perspective of the season that approaches and maybe the answer will remind you to reach up, take a hold of His hand and walk together.
